OUR FLOOR COATINGS PROCESS

Epoxy has become a general term used for many different installations and can be very difficult when choosing a company to install your floor. The most common flooring we install is the Moisture Mitigation Epoxy Flake Floor with a 100% polyaspartic top coat. Different options are available if you or your floor require something else.

STEP 1 – GARAGE FLOOR SURFACE PREPARATION

STEP 1 – GARAGE FLOOR SURFACE PREPARATION

At ReNew Floor Coatings, the preparation of the garage floor is critical to ensure maximum adhesion of the epoxy. First, we grind your floor, then we shot blast it utilizing a walk behind shot blaster attached to an industrial vacuum, which keeps dust and debris to a minimum. The machine removes all the dust that was packed into the pores of the concrete from grinding, to assure that the concrete is clean and porous. This step ensures that the epoxy can adequately adhere to the floor for a strong, long lasting mechanical bond. Once the blasting is complete, we vacuum any remaining dust and fill all hairline cracks with a structural grade epoxy patch. This part of the process can take up to several hours or all day and is a critically important step!

STEP 2 – PRIMER AND BASE COAT APPLICATION

STEP 2 – PRIMER AND BASE COAT APPLICATION

We use industrial quality epoxies that are low VOC and LEED compliant and manufactured in the United States from several leading polymer suppliers. The epoxies we use are moisture mitigation epoxies to withstand any moisture coming up through the concrete throughout the seasons. This is critical because if the base coat is a polyurea or polyaspartic, it will not hold up to moisture coming up through your concrete. We mix the epoxy on-site using a formula based on your garage size that has proven to provide maximum durability and build. The product is then poured onto the concrete floor and applied evenly using a gauge rake, which forces the epoxy into the concrete's open pores. The product is further distributed using a rolling method for maximum adhesion and has self-leveling properties to ensure a uniform finish is achieved.

STEP 3 - DECORATIVE CHIP / FLAKE DISTRIBUTION

STEP 3 - DECORATIVE CHIP / FLAKE DISTRIBUTION

The decorative polymer chips – chosen by you from our selection of designer color finishes, are then broadcasted into the wet epoxy and chemically bond together, which ultimately provides the look of Granite, Quartz, or Terrazzo. Our signature finishes include a 100% surface broadcast of chips applied at the maximum rate. This provides a solid build to the floor and hides all cracks or imperfections. We have over 24 in-stock colors available to complement the color palette of the interior or exterior of your home, or we can custom blend you a finish to your liking.

STEP 4 - PROTECTIVE CLEAR COAT POLYASPARTIC APPLICATION

STEP 4 - PROTECTIVE CLEAR COAT POLYASPARTIC APPLICATION

The final step is designed to seal the decorative chips into place and provide an extremely durable protective clear coat with a texture with anti-slip properties when complete. We achieve this finish by reclaiming the excess fragments, lightly scraping the floor, and applying the protective clear coat. The most popular clear coat we offer is Polyaspartic and is provided as a 1 or 2 coat option. Polyaspartic clear coats are offered depending on your specific dry time, chemical resistance, or UV protection needs.

DRYING TIMES & RENEW BENEFITS

DRYING TIMES & RENEW BENEFITS

Our process can take up to a day or two to install, which allows for a quick return to service for your garage. It will be highly durable, chemical resistant, and easy to keep clean upon completion. Typically within 24 hours, your garage floor is open to light foot traffic and replacement of your contents. It is highly recommended that garage floor coating systems be completely cured before auto traffic. That depends on the protective clear coat applied and the environmental conditions. Once completed, you will have a garage floor that looks amazing and extends the finish of your home into your garage.
