FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When our customers first call to schedule an appointment, they generally have many questions about our floor coating. Here are some of the most common questions and our answers!

  • How long does it take?

The typical one, two, or three-car garage requires only 1.5 days. If extensive damage is present, an additional day may be necessary. Regardless of floor condition, it never takes long to get a renew garage floor finish.

  • Will the cracks and control joints be filled with the floor coating?

The main floor coatings will not necessarily fill in cracks in the concrete surface.  Our installers will repair all cracks prior with a structural epoxy patch. This is done in the prep stage of your floor. We never recommend to fill in the control joints.

  • What is the most common floor coating system for a garage?

The decorative flake floors are the most common. They are available in endless color options and provide your garage floor with not only a stunning new look, but these floors have the best qualities for function as well. Resistant to salt, oil, rust stains, and skid-resistant for safety.

  • How does this differ from the epoxy paint kit that the box store sells?

The short answer is the garage epoxy paint kits sold at the big box stores are just fortified paints. Our garage floor coatings are industrial-grade polymers designed for high adhesion and performance. And half of the work that you're paying a professional for is the prep. We recommend a grind for a CSP (concrete surface profile) of 2.

  • Is warm weather required?

For most epoxy systems, the floor needs to be above 40 degrees. There are polyurea systems offered that can be installed at lower temperatures. The biggest concern is moisture in the floor; it's hard to ensure all the moisture is out of a frozen garage floor. This is to guarantee proper adhesion of the base coat. Our busiest time of year is March - November.

  • Should we paint or finish the garage walls before installing the floor coating?

Yes, we recommend completing all finishing activities in the garage, except the placement of baseboard trim. The floor needs only be free of debris and items. There is no need to do any detailed cleaning before our floor coatings installation since we will be removing the surface with our grinders.

  • What does it cost?

There are a lot of different options, which can change the price. But to give you a ballpark, an Epoxy Flake Floors for a 2-car garage starts at around $2,800, and a three-car is about $5,000. For a more accurate quote, please call us with your garage floor dimensions.

  • What warranties are offered?

We offer a 15-year warranty on residential floors and a 10-year warranty on commercial floors.

  • What if I cannot remove the items from my garage before you get there?

We offer to move standard items at a rate of $100/hour. However, we don't move heavier items like gun safes, toolboxes, etc.
